July Photo A Day - Day 1 - Self Portrait

So, since April I've been trying to do Fat Mum Slim's Photo A Day Challenge and, well,  I've failed miserably (especially last month when I didn't even take one picture).  Well, here I go again with a good faith effort.

The theme for Day 1 is Self-Portrait, not my favorite subject or thing to do, I always try to get away with doing something kind of like a picture of me for this one, but here you go, this is me after barely any sleep because I just don't sleep anymore.

I have discovered that I love my Olympus camera's Self Portrait mode.  Check out the July Photo Challenge over at Fat Mum Slim

May Photo Challenge - Day 2 - Skyline

This is the skyline in our backyard...

I probably could have composed this better, like I could have not included the tomato cage that's right there in bottom left of my picture, but, well it was the end of the day, I was exhausted and I was just happy I remembered to take the picture at all yesterday!

Day 1 - Peace

Well, I'm going to try this again.  Photo a Day for May (I did April, took a lot of the pics, but never posted any of them.  So, yesterday's assignment was peace, something peaceful...I took a picture of Kid Jedi.
Whenever he goes to sleep, he has to have his sheet wrapped around his head and even through all the tossing and turning he does in a night, he still has his head wrapped in the morning (sometimes he's all tangled up).  But, for him, it doesn't get any more peaceful than this, his brain isn't going a mile a minute, his obsessions are calmed down, though he does have cat stuffed animals, he's not worried about being a room or a floor away from any other person, he's ok...he's Peaceful.

April Photo A Day - Days 1-5

Ok, so I'm a little behind on posting this month, which is still better than last month where I forgot to take pictures after the second day...so here we go:

Day 1: Your Reflection - one of my pet peeves about all this taking your picture in the mirror thing is that you see the camera, and since I don't do a whole lot of self portrature, I did this, it's one of my cooking pots.

Day 2: Colour - April is Autism Awareness month, and, well Kid Jedi has Autism, well Asperger's which is on the Spectrum, so here's my puzzle piece ribbon.

Day 3: Mail - I'm pretty sure we actually got something else that day, but when I went to take the picture it wasn't with these, a coupon for Jo-Ann Fabrics and a beautiful Easter card from my friend.

Day 4: Someone who makes me happy - I would have loved to have gotten a picture of Kid Jedi & his Daddy, but Kid Jedi it is...and he does make me happy even if he fights getting pictures taken.

Day 5: Tiny - not the quarter, the little Lego piece, we actually have smaller ones, but this one will do, we have a ton of them.

March Photo a Day - Day 1 - Up

So, to be honest, I almost forgot that it was the first day of the March Photo-A-Day Challenge from Fat Mum Slim but I did remember, these are my faves.

Our backyard gate...I love the weathered look of the boards.

Looking up a pine tree in our back yard...I love the way the moon is peeking around the edge of the pine boughs.
Finally, looking up at our Dogwood tree, with buds...on the first of March.  What I really thought was cool about this picture was how dark the sky looks though all the pictures were taken in quick succession.

New beginnings, new challenges

Yeah, yeah, I know I said I'd be better at posting, but, well life happened.  I have a permanent job working with a group of Medically Fragile/Developmentally Delayed students at a local Special Needs school as an Aide,,,I love it.  I do come home exhausted pretty much every day, but it is so worth it.  We have a classroom of great students and wonderful staff.

Kid Jedi started the year with a lot of behavior problems, calling out, arguing, wanting to do whatever it is he wanted to, etc.  Now we are mostly just dealing with arguing and temper tantrums.  It's very difficult for him to understand that he has to do his work when it's assigned, not when he wants and though it's not causing issues now, we are working on him understanding that when he throws these temper tantrums, it makes it seem to the other students that he thinks he deserves special treatment...not a good thing.

We are working on getting a schedule for home, I'll post more on that later.  And we got a family gift for Christmas of an iPOD touch which we are looking through to see what apps we can use to help Kid Jedi with his Asperger's and determine if we want to get an iPAD eventually.
